As of now I only have my college loan money to pay my bills, and not nearly enough to take care of the credit card bills. I'm pretty sure i'm judgement proof, but I have no idea how that will help me when my mother is being harrassed by phone calls whenever I'm not home. ~Dara Duguay, Director, Citi Office of Financial Education

Hi, I'm mother of seven and I homeschool. Our oldest is in her third year of college. In her last year of school, I got an idea to help her learn to budget. We figured out how much all of her needs were for each month - clothes, feminine articles, hair, hygiene, even entertainment (hanging with buddies). Kids learn about their parents financial situations through what they see, hear and experience in regard to money as they grow up. You MUST talk to your kids about money from an early age. This is the only way A couple of years ago I asked the adults in my Money Camp database to send me stories about the allowance experiences. I have put several of these stories in the book for you to read to see what others have tried.

ULTIMATE ALLOWANCE DISCLAIMER... The foundation of success is understanding money management. Finally there is a place for our children to go to learn about managing their money and building a foundation and psychology for wealth. This system can be a major factor in turning our younger generation into smart, financially-savvy business owners to build a solid foundation for future generations.

But isn't raising children into adults who are happy, healthy, wealthy and wise worth a little effort? Nothing in life comes without a little effort and from my experience, my best work has come from my best effort. Afterall, would it be nice if kids grew into adults who didn't have to recover from their childhoods? I think so! Clinton Swaine
